Taizé is an ecumenical Christian monastic community in rural France focused on bringing youth and young adults together for Bible study, prayer, and communal work. Over 100,000 youth from around the world visit Taizé every year. For over 20 years, Christ Church Bronxville youth (grade 9-12) have become pilgrims during the New York public school break in February. Christ Church collaborates with other area church youth groups to build friendships that are lifelong and filled with the Holy Spirit. The primary goal of the 10-day pilgrimage are the days spent in the Taizé community, but each journey begins with a couple of days exploring the culture of a European city to facilitate bonds of friendship and connection while acclimating to the time zone. Please contact the Rev. Kurt Gerhard for more information about the Taizé pilgrimage.

Taizé 2027 - February 11-21, 2027

Registration is open for the 2027 pilgrimage to Taizé. The Taizé Community is our ultimate destination with 7-days immersed in the regular practices of this special place. Our cultural experience this year will be in Lisbon, the capital city of Portugal. We will visit the Belém, LX Factory, Biaxa-Chiado, Castelo de São Jorge, and the street life of Lisbon’s central tourist area. Christ Church is actively seeking other church youth groups to experience this amazing week of prayer and connection with us. We find it important to know everyone on the pilgrimage really well, so we aim for a group no larger than 25 total people.

Taizé 2026

The 2026 pilgrimage began in Rome, Italy before heading to Taizé. Pilgrims enjoyed the major sites in Rome including the coliseum and the Vatican. In Taizé, they experienced the regular patterns of the monastic life and met people from around the world. High school youth describe this experience as a week of discovering the power of talking to others without worrying about the demands of American life.
