Ash Wednesday Services - Wednesday, March 1st

Ash Wednesday, a day of fasting and penitence, is the gateway to Lent. The ashes we receive remind us of our mortality. Our coming to receive them is a sign that we will make a sincere effort to cleanse our lives of sin and to put God first. Ash Wednesday calls us to put aside pride and choose humility. It calls us to acknowledge our failings and amend our hearts in the comfort of knowing that we are loved. 7 a.m. - Holy Eucharist and Imposition of Ashes 12 p.m. - Imposition of Ashes 7 p.m. - Choral Holy Eucharist and Imposition of Ashes

Join seminarians from General Seminary and Berkley Divinity School at Yale for a discussion of our Book of Common Prayer Thursday, March 9 at 7:30pm in the Crispell Lounge

As debate over a revision of the 1979 Book of Common Prayer continues, students in Dr. Kevin Moroney’s liturgics class were given the assignment to reflect theologically on the services in the BCP, and then make suggestions for revision if they deemed it necessary. Their work is soon to be published, and we are delighted to welcome them as they present their process and thoughts, and engage in discussion on the importance of the words that shape us all.
