Project Linus aims to provide love, warmth, comfort, and a sense of security to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need. They do so through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer “blanketeers.” With chapters in all 50 states, Project Linus continues to grow. Blankets are collected locally and distributed to children in hospitals, shelters, social service agencies, or anywhere that a child might be in need of a big hug. The Christ Church group has made contributions to local hospitals, residential treatment centers, Planned Parenthood, and children in foster care. Additionally, our group made a significant contribution to the Snowball Express serving children of our military in Iraq and Afghanistan. And last summer our group participated in making fleece blankets for 137 children at the Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center in Yonkers. For more information regarding Project Linus, contact Jody Maier.
The next Project Linus event is April 23.
